WITH JOANNA MANOUSIS, DB Studio, November 10-12, 2018
Students will learn how to create ‘blanket’ multi-part mother molds in order to produce detailed multiples in wax. Re-appropriating everyday objects into one-of-a-kind configurations in glass, a variety of applications for shaping and casting waxes will be introduced, along with an in-depth overview of the lost-wax process for kiln casting. Demonstrations will cover hand-built refractory mold construction, kiln set up, annealing and cold working. Slide presentations and one-on-one conversation will encourage and enhance your artistic practice.
